Anatomy of a County: The Oxfordshire Historical Atlas Project
A weekend conference in association with the Oxfordshire Record Society, is to be held at Rewley House, Wellington Square, Oxford.
The county historical atlas has become an essential resource for local historians in recent years. By mapping the past it provides a guide to future research on historical, architectural and archaeological themes across a wide range of topics and periods.
2010 will see the launch of Oxfordshire's own historical atlas, edited by Dr Kate Tiller under the auspices of the Oxfordshire Record Society. This conference will provide an opportunity to discuss some of the project's key findings. It will give an introduction to the history of the county and also reveal the process by which the atlas was itself created.
